Dan Hardy is fighting Georges St. Pierre!!

Posted in UFC with tags , , , on November 16, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

UFC 105 just passed and I’m very excited. Dan Hardy beat Mike Swick and now has a chance at the welterweight belt. This is really exciting because now hardy gets to fight GSP, and GSP is my ultimate favorite fighter. I alreayd know Hardy doesn’t stand a chance against GSP. I don’t think anyone in the welterweight division stands against GSP. I can’t wait to watch this fight because I will be betting money and winning money.

So many wins!

It’s absolutley amazing to me how many wins and losses Fedor Emelianenko has. Right now Fedor has a record of 31 wins and 1 loss. That is absolutley an amazing record to have in the MMA. Fedor is definitley what I consider a hall-of-famer. After his win to Brett Rogers he has proven to people that he still has what it takes to be an amazing fighter.

The only thing I’m still wondering is why Fedor is not in the UFC yet. Fedor has obviously proven himself and I think that if Fedor went against Lesner, it would be an amazing fight.

What is going on with Team Rampage?

Posted in UFC with tags , , on November 4, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

So, I’m not sure if all have you been watching The Ultimate Fighter on Spike, but Team Rampage has not won one fight. Wow, how embarassing and pathetic. So far, Team Rashad has won every single fight for the whole season. With all the animosity going on in the show between Rashad Evans and Rampage, it makes me very mad that they’re not fighting anymore. All I want is to see them fight. Who else agrees?????

What happened to Lyota Machida?

Posted in UFC with tags , , , on October 27, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

Ok, so I don’t know about you guys, but I was really looking forward to UFC 104 to see Lyota Machida go against Mauricio Shogun Rua.

Wow! What an upset!

I thought for sure Machida would knockout Rua, but he didn’t. Instead, Machida won the fight in a unanimous decision. Many people did not agree with this decision since Machida looked like he was getting beat up and was taking very harsh leg kicks. The leg kicks from Rua were so constant that Machida actually started to limp. At the end of the fight, I had no idea who would win because it was so close and Machida didn’t really get that many hits in. Rua was even in the other corner acting like he won.

But thank the lord, Machida did win. I believe that since he is the light heavyweight champion, someone that fights Machida has to literally take the belt from him. In order for Shogun to take Machida’s belt he had to at least take him down, submit him, or knock him out. Shogun couldn’t perform any of these tasks so he doesn’t deserve the belt. Shogun did put up a good fight but to be a champion there needs to be an all around amazing performance.

Fighting is more than just submissions.

Posted in UFC with tags , , , on October 19, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

To be a well-rounded fighter, a person needs to have stand-up ability and ground ability. A lot of people believe that mostly all fights go to the ground. That’s why being able to submit someone is a huge skill and accomplishment. Another ability fighters need to have is striking power. They need to have striking power because if there not good on the ground, at least they can keep the fight standing up.

Even though these abilities are what makes a fighter, I have figured out that the best ability a fighter should have is karate skills. Right now in the UFC, fighters that have lots of background in karate are unstoppable such as George St. Pierre and Lyota Machida. Karate is just as much mental, as physical, which makes it a very great skill to have in the MMA.

WEC 43 was BORING!

Posted in WEC with tags , , , , on October 12, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

WEC 43 was held in San Antonio, Texas over the weekend at the AT&T Center. The main event seemed pretty boring to me. I enjoy a fight where there is a powerful knockout or a ground and pound submission.

The main event was weak. Benson Henderson beats Donald Cerrone in a unanimous victory. The fight lasted all three rounds. I do enjoy watching fights that last all three rounds but I rather see someone get beat up in the first round.

Henderson captures the lightweight championship and will now be fighting Jamie Varner, recovering lightweight champion.

Why do people like Kimbo Slice so much?

Posted in UFC with tags , on October 4, 2009 by Stephanie Huynh

If you don’t know who Kimbo Slice is, your not really missing out. Everyone thought Slice was this tough guy that started fighting in his backyard and was never defeated. Slice was infamous for all his videos that he had on You Tube. Maybe this was why he was so popular. But, what about now? Now, that he’s fighting trained fighters he can’t even win. He has lost his past two fights that were nationally televised. And still, all his airings on TV reach it’s max in MMA fighting. Why is this….he’s not even good.
