Did you know UFC fighters get bonuses?

Over the weekend we had UFC103. When fighters win they get paid, but did you know they get additional bonuses for different fighting techniques that they use?

Rick Story earned $130,000 in his victory over Brian Foster with a choke in the second round leading to an additional bonus. Victor Belfort also took home and EXTRA $65,000 with a victory knockout over Rich Franklin. As we know, Franklin is a very well-known fighter, so a knockout in the first round definitley deserves a bonus.

Belfort now has a chance to fight against the middleweight champion Anderson Silva. LOL Anderson Silva is one of the best fighters so Belfort definitley needs to start training 24/7 if he even wants to stand a chance.

UFC 102

Can anyone say WOW?!?

UFC 102 was great like usual. I put my money on Nogueira and like I suspected, he won. Randy Couture put up a great fight though and it’s always sad to see him loose because he is such a legend in the sport of fighting.

At 46-years-old, this man is still going strong. Couture lasted all three rounds with Nogueira and was even almost submitted for the first time in his UFC career, but that fight ended in a decision and Nogueira is now one step closer to earning the belt back.

As for the other fights, some people say that Thiago Silva is not the same anymore after his first ever defeat to Lyota Machida at the beginning of this year. Last night at the Rose Garden he proved everyone wrong. Silva went against Keith Jardine and knocked him out in only 95 seconds. If that’s not proving yourself, I don’t know what is.

My name is Stephanie and I’m a PR major at San Jose State. I’m starting this blog because I want to raise awareness for a sport that has been around for a very long time, but has only recently started to boom. This is the sport of MMA, mixed martial arts.

MMA is a sport that uses various types of fighting methods from different backgrounds of mixed martial arts. These fighting methods include anything varying from jiu-jitsu, to Tae Kwon Do, or even kick boxing. Fighters have a chance to prove their skills and come into the octagon and fight for victory. They’re various leagues in the MMA such as Strikeforce, WEC, and UFC.

Today I wanted to write about UFC since there is a huge fight going on tomorrow night at the Rose Garden in Portland. We have Thiago Silva fighting against Keith Jardine. Jardine has 14 wins and 5 losses. Silva has 13 wins and 1 loss. This should be a great fight, who do you think should win?

For the main event we have former heavyweight champion Randy Couture with 16 wins and 9 losses fighting against Antonio Nogueira who has 31 wins and 5 losses. This will be great main event. I have my money on Nogueira, who do you think will win?
